GADVASU got RPL Project on Skill Registry from ASCI

GADVASU becomes, the only University among all the state Agricultural & Veterinary Universities of the country that has got RPL Project on Skill Registry. Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana got this prestigious project, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) on Skill Registry for Dairy Farmers from National Skill Development Corporation through Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), which is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. Total cost of the Project is 51.08 lacs. Under this Project 2000 Dairy Farmers of the Punjab with prior learning experience or skills shall be assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) component of the Scheme, which aims to align the competencies of the unemployed rural youth towards Scientific Dairy Farming Practices & Dairypreneurship Development amongst the rural youth of Punjab State. The project will be implemented at its GADVASU Campus, KVKs & RRTCs under supervision of Dr. H. K. Verma, Director Extension Education, GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr. Satender Arya, Chief Executive Officer, ASCI, Gurugram complemented GADVASU for this project and offered full support from ASCI for completion of this project.

Further, for the successful implementation of RPL Project and other skill development projects for capacity building, Directorate of Extension Education, GADVASU in collaboration with ASCI organized three days Master Trainers Program from 29-01-2018 to 31-01-2018 for the faculty members/scientists of the University including Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Regional Research & Training Centers (RRTCs), Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) & Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI). In this training programme the basics of skill development and various government schemes were explained to the participants. Experts from various parts of the country dwelled and deliberated on platform and different domain skills in different sessions during all three days and finally evaluation of the candidates were done before certifications.

Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU appreciated the efforts of team members of Directorate of Extension Education, involved for getting the prestigious project and successful organization of Master Trainers Program at GADVASU. These trainers will further train the farmers, unemployed youth, women and ultimately the livestock farming in the state will flourish, thus the farmers will harvest rich dividends after becoming successful entrepreneurs.
