Canadian delegates laud the facilities available at Vet Varsity Clinics

Dr. Nigel Caulkett, Head, Department of Veterinary Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, and six internship students from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary (UoC) visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) under the two week students exchange programme between GADVASU and UoC. The internship students from UoC in collaboration with the internship students and faculty of GADVASU performed spay/neuter surgeries, a part of Animal Birth Control (ABC) program in male and female dogs. The delegates also visited few dairy and poultry farms of the Punjab and appreciated the way how they are managed. They interacted with the farmers and understood the basic management, health and other practices undertaken by them. Farmers explained the hand holding approach of the veterinary varsity for pushing the livestock farming in the State. Dr. Nigel also delivered an expert lecture on the “Use of anaesthesia in veterinary patients” which was very much liked and appreciated the faculty and students of GADVASU. Students interacted with the experts and learnt the safe and fast anaesthesia techniques. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science explained to the visiting delegates about the various teaching, research and extension activities of the university. The Canadian delegates expressed a fruitful and wonderful visit to GADVASU and praised the efforts of the university in the area of Canine Healthcare and desired to share their experiences with fellow students in Canada.
