Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, SAS Nagar (Mohali) in its efforts to provide the latest technical knowhow to the farmers and farm women for development of self entrepreneurship in agriculture and livestock sector with integrated approach organized a seven days ‘Scientific approach to dairy farming’ course at village Mundhon Sangtian, Block Majri. Thirty one farmers registered in the course which focused on Scientific Approach to Dairy Farming. Dr. Randhir Singh, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production), provided information on balanced feeding and formulation of concentrate for different age groups of animals. He also gave a detailed insight about deworming/ vaccination schedule and control/ treatment of various diseases of dairy animals and stressed on adaptation of dairy farming on scientific lines. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, SAS Nagar (Mohali) delivered lectures on prospects of dairy farming in Punjab and provided information about various cattle breeds and housing management. S. Harpreet Singh (PDDB, Chatamali) gave lecture on milk processing. Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor Home Science delivered lectures on value addition of milk whereas, Dr. Vikas Phulia provided interesting inputs on how to integrate dairy with fish farming. Apart from this, screening of dairy documentary was also arranged for farmers. Farmers were also taken on exposure visit to Pashu Palan Mela at GADVASU, Ludhiana. The course concluded with distribution of training certificates.
