KVK, Mohali organizes five days vocational training on

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mohali organized 5 days vocational training programme under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana scheme on “Entrepreneurship Development Through Agri-allied Activities” at village Fatehpur Tapria, S.A. S. Nagar (Mohali). The training programme was organized under the guidance of Dr H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education of GADVASU and Dr Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director Training. Around 30 progressive farmers, farm women and rural youth took part in this training programme. Dr Priyanka Suryavanshi, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) and Mr. Vikas Phulia, Assistant Professor (Fisheries) coordinated this training. Dr. Yashwant Singh discussed need for integration of all farm enterprises and backyard poultry farming. Dr. Priyanka shared her expertise for production of vermicompost and azolla as manure and growing baby corn and sweet corn as cash crops. Mr. Vikas Phulia encouraged farmers for adoptingornamental fish farming and integration of aquaculture with dairy for enhancing farm income. The coordinators also led an exposure visit of trainees to Integrated Farming System Model, Mushroom and Fish Farm at GADVASU and PAU campus, Ludhiana. Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) also shared her knowledge on value addition of farm produce and post harvest management and role of Self Help Group in self-dependence of farm women. Dr. Sanjeev Ahuja, Assistant Professor, Horticulture from KVK Ropar delivered lecture on mushroom production and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Professor, Plant Pathology from KVK Ropar encouraged farmers to increase farm income by adopting beekeeping as allied enterprise. Dr Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor, Horticulture gave lecture on various practices of growing floricultural crops and protected cultivation. Dr. Randhir Singh, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production shared his expertise on proper care and maintenance of goat and dairy animals. Mr. Rattan Singh, Deputy Director, Punjab National Bank, Distt. Fatehgarh Sahib shared details of various loan schemes for entrepreneurship development through agri-allied activities.
