Training programme on milk and milk products concludes at Vet Varsity

College of Dairy Science & Technology in association with Deptt. of Veterianry Extension Education of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary And Animal Sciences University conducted three days training programme on milk and milk products for dairy farmers of Punjab. Seventeen farmers including five woman farmers from different part of Punjab attended the training programme. Dr. Amandeep Sharma revealed that during three days training they were learnt about quality evaluation and testing of milk, milk processing and manufacturing of different milk products (Paneer, lassi, ice cream, mozzarella cheese, flavoured milk and whey beverages). Besides products manufacturing they were also told about various government schemes available for the promotion of dairy farming, milk processing and value added dairy products in rural area. Framers showed keen interest in learning the various technologies for value addition of milk. They were very enthusiastic in learning the technology for mozzarella cheese, ice cream and whey drink making. Officiating Dean of College of Dairy Science & Technology, Dr Asha Dhawan told that in coming months the college would hold specialized product training programmes to entrepreneurs. She said that now the time is of diversification and diversification through value addition is more important. Time is changing and people are more cautious towards their help. More nutritious, healthy and balanced food is demand of the day. There is a great scope of clean, hygienic and quality food. Entrepreneurship in this field has good potential. Dr SNS Randhawa, Director of Extension Education GADVASU said that it was the first training programme conducted by college on value addition of milk and we received very encouraging response from participants farmers and university will hold such training programme in future as well. Dr. P.K. Singh and Dr. Amandeep Sharma were course coordinators of the training.
