Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) organized one week vocational training course on “Tie and Dye and Block printing techniques” at village Madanheri. Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) and Coordinator of this training discussed with the girls regarding different techniques of tie and dye and block printing. She also emphasized on its scope for small scale entreprise. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, KVK, Mohali inaugurated the training programme and gave a detailed lecture on importance of rural crafts and establishment of small scale enterprises. Dr. Parul Gupta demonstrated the selection of cloth and different techniques of tying and dyeing. Besides this, she also demonstrated block printing techniques on cotton and silk cloth. Mrs. Manpreet Kaur, Demonstrator, KVK, Rupnagar, emphasized on different colour schemes and selection of material for tie and dye and block printing. Twenty five girls participated in this training programme. On the last day, participants put up an exhibition of dupattas, bags, and shirt pieces prepared by them during this training programme. Farm women thanked the KVK faculty and asked them to organize more such programmes for their skill development in future.
