Dr Syed Shabih Hassan NSS Programme Coordinator, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University took initiative in environment awareness campaign under the theme “My Earth My Duty” for plantation and beautification of school campus of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Ludhiana. School students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and school teachers participated in plantation drive and campus beautification. Dr Hassan, in consultation with Principal BVM School Mrs Bandana Sethi and school ECO club members interacted with school students/volunteers and urged them to beautify school campus by planting variety of saplings. Principal, and Mrs Seema Gupta, PGT Teacher of ECO club made the campus beautification and plantation work successful. They also showed interest in more cooperation from NSS wing GADVASU and Society for Conservation of Flora and Fauna (NGO). Dr S. S. Hassan provided 125 saplings of various plants viz; Areca palm (Chrysalidocarpus), Araucaria christmas plant, Bougainvillea, Cycas, Fan palm, Phycus, Rose, Marigold (Genda), Murraya (Madhukamini), Single Chandni, Guledaudi, Fern, Dahlia and seeds of carrot, raddish, turnip, mustard, onion, garlic and marigold for Botanical garden of School. These saplings were planted by the students/volunteers of the BVM School. Dr Hassan motivated students and volunteers of ECO club for making campus free from unhygienic environment and made the students/volunteers aware and conscious about cleanliness, greenery and importance of tree plantation as well as irrigating plant in personal life. Principal, of School Mrs Sethi also encouraged students/volunteers for plantation and campus beautification.
