Scientists from 10 States attend ICAR Summer School in Biostatistics at Vet Varsity

A 21 days ICAR Sponsored Summer School on “Applied Aspects of Statistical Modelling and Inferences in Veterinary and Animal Sciences” concluded in the Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding, GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr. Sushil Prabhakar, Registrar of the University presided over the function. Dr. B.K. Bansal, Course Director and Head of the Department told that 21 participants including 07 female participants throughout India starting from Jammu and Kashmir in north to Tirunelveli, near Kanyakumari in south, and from Assam in east to Maharashtra, Gujarat in West participated in the training programme. He highlighted the activities of the training by giving a footnote of 39 theory and 16 practical lectures delivered throughout the course, and about other diversified activities including demonstrations of data recording at university Dairy Farm, working at university Animal Clinics, Dairy Science and Technology college and other departments of the university. He also quoted that four experts from outside institutions including NDRI, Karnal, IASRI, New Delhi and PAU, Ludhiana delivered the lectures. Dr. Jaswant Singh, a visiting professor form University of Saskatchewan, Canada demonstrated the application of statistics in the field of animal reproduction.
Dr. Sushil Prabhakar, Registrar of GADVASU addressed the participants and cited the importance of Statistics in Research and Teaching. He congratulated the entire team for successfully completing the training programme.
The proceedings of the training programme were provided to the participants in the form of e - copy and compendium of Lectures. Dr. Raman Narang presented vote of thanks. He showed gratitude towards the Vice Chancellor and administration of the university and ICAR for providing the facilities for conduct of the training programme.  Course coordinator Dr. Neeraj Kashyap felicitated the participants for the successful completion of training.
The participants displayed their gratitude for providing in depth knowledge and dedication, making this training a gainful experience. They also expressed gratitude and appreciation to ICAR and the University for organizing this training.
