Vet Varsity PhD Scholar bags prestigious Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarship

Dr. Dinesh Kumar, a Ph.D Scholar of Department of Livestock Products Technology (LPT) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, bagged prestigious Commonwealth Split-site Scholarship 2018 funded by the UK government, through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom. His major Advisor, Dr Nitin Mehta informed that the student will carry out part of his Ph.D research work with Professor Graham Bonwick, New Castle University, UK. The work pertains to development of nanoencapsulated bioactive agents and its incorporation in biodegrabale films for extension of storage stability of meat products.

Dr Manish Kumar Chatli, Head of the department explained that the research work will help to resolve various issues related with storage stability of meat and food safety. He further stated that it is the extension of the work on biodegradable films and encapsulation technology already being carried out in the department. Department is conducting world class work in the various areas of Meat and Egg Science including byproducts processing, pet food development, low-cost processing and preservation technologies, health oriented value added meat and egg products and their quality evaluation.  Dr Sanjeev Kumar Uppal, Dean Post Graduate Studies congratulated the efforts of the department in bringing laurels to the university. He stressed that this scholarship will not only broaden the vision of the participant but will pave a new way for inter institutional collaboration at global level. The research work carried out by postgraduate students at GADVASU is planned and designed meticulously in a manner that it parallels to prestigious universities around the globe. Dr P.S. Brar, Dean College of Veterinary Science congratulated the student and the department for securing such a unique feat. Dr A.S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of University appreciated the efforts of the department of LPT for carrying out research having global impact and conveyed his best wishes for his work at New Castle University.
