KVK Mohali organizes 5 days vocational training on Value addition of mash and entrepreneurship development

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) organized 5 days vocational training on “Value addition to mash and entrepreneurship development” at village Rattangarh (Simbal) from 07-12-2018 to 14-12-2018. Twenty 25 farm women and young girls participated in this training. Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) and Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) coordinated this training programme. They encouraged farm women regarding value addition of mash. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, KVK, Mohali inaugurated the five days training programme and gave a detailed lecture on ‘Value addition of pulses. Dr. Parul Gupta and Dr. Harmeet Kaur demonstrated different recipes from mash crop such as papad, burfi, halwa, pinni, vada, dosa, idlis, dahi bhale.  They also delivered different lectures on value addition of mash to generate self employment. During this vocational training an exposure visit was also organized at Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) where different machinery regarding pulse milling, grading and other post harvest machinery was shown to the participants. A video film on processing of raw materials like pulses, oilseed and cereals was also shown at CIPHET. During the concluding ceremony, feedback from participants was taken and certificates were distributed among farm women by Deputy Director, KVK. He also motivated the trainees to generate self employment through value addition of pulses. Village sarpanch and participants thanked the KVK faculty and assured them to cooperate in such programmes in future.
