A five-days training course on ‘Value addition of milk ' organized by College of Dairy Science and Technology at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana 
under the leadership of Dr HK Verma, Director Extension Education. A total of 25 trainees including 5 women participated in the above training programme conducted in collaboration with NGO, Society for Action in Community Health (SACH).
Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology in his address, apprised the trainees about the facilities available for farmers in various departments of the college pertaining to value addition of milk. He suggested the trainees participants to maintain contacts with the University experts and try to excel in the dairy processing and value addition through hard work and innovation. He congratulated the coordinators of NGO-SACH for bringing the farmers from different locations at one platform for providing them opportunity to learn scientific methods of value addition of milk.
Dr Varinder Pal Singh, course coordinator of training programme provided an overview of the activities carried out for the participants during the training course. He informed that training programme was technically designed and provided practical training on manufacture of seven milk products viz. milk cake, paneer, whey drink, dahi, lassi, mozzarella cheese and sterilized flavoured milk. Specialized lecture on establishment of mini dairy processing plant and guidelines to apply for FSSAI Licence for start-up of dairy plant were also included in this training. The training covered the microbiological, chemical and economic aspects for proper handling of milk and milk products. Mr Kapil Trikha from SACH thanked the faculty and organisers for efficiently organizing the training. He stressed upon implementation of the knowledge gained in the training by the farmers at field level by starting milk processing enterprises for enhancing their income levels. It is important to mention that sach is organizing more training on Goat Farming and small dairy plant in next month.
