KVK, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) celebrated World Health Day at village Shahpur and Government Middle School, Khanpur, block Kharar, SAS Nagar (Mohali). The day was celebrated under the guidance of Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Mohali along with the KVK scientists. Teachers, students and farmers participated in this programme. He informed that the theme of this year World Health Day is “Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere”, health for all. It refers to the providing of essential health care services to the person while ensuring that the use of these does not expose the user to financial distress. The basic objective is that every person who needs these services should get them and not only to those who can pay them. The purpose of this day focuses on increasing the life expectancy of people by promoting healthier living habits. Dr. Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor (LPM) focused on basic hygienic practices followed for healthy living. Dr. Priyanka Suryavanshi, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) discussed about importance of cereals and pulses. Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) emphasized on balanced diet and role of vitamins and minerals for healthy body and mind. Mr. Jasmer Singh, Sarpanch, Shahpur thanked the KVK staff and ensured them to adopt the healthy lifestyle practices and also motivate the villagers to adopt the same. Students of the school also showed keen interest towards healthy lifestyle and ensured the faculty to adopt healthy eating habits for healthy lifestyle.
