Admission Process starts at Veterinary Varsity

The process of admissions in different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries, Dairy Technology and Biotechnology has started at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana with calling of online applications. University Controller of Examination, Dr. N S Sharma informed that the candidates have to apply only online for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for academic session 2018-19. The prospectus containing detailed information on admission process including important dates, seat capacity, counseling/interview dates and reservation of seats etc. has been made available on the university website (www.gadvasu.in). The admissions to undergraduate programmes are made on the basis of Common Entrance Test (CET-GADVASU 2018), to be held on 21st June, 2018.  The candidates are required to visit link GADVASU ADMISSION 2018-19 at www.gadvasu.in and click it which will take to another page where to click “Apply Now” to apply online.  The candidates will be taken to the systematic Channel to fill all the columns in the form.  
Dr. Sushil Prabhakar, Registrar highlighted that last year GADVASU has introduced undergraduate programme on B.Tech. (Biotechnology) in addition to the regular undergraduate courses in Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc. & A.H.), Fishery Science (B.F.Sc.) and Dairy Technology {B.Tech. (DT)}. Candidates who have studied (Biology or Mathematics) at 10+2 level shall be able to compete in the CET for admission to Biotechnology programme. The eligibility for admission to undergraduate programmes in the College of Veterinary Science and College of Fisheries is 10+2 with medical stream from a recognized Board/University, while for College of Dairy Science and Technology the eligibility is 10+2 with non-medical stream.  
The last date to apply online for admission to Undergraduate Programmes is 23rd May (28th May with late fee). For Postgraduate Programmes, the online application can be submitted upto 18th June (25th June with late fee). The admission to Master’s programmes for residents of Punjab/Chandigarh in Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries, Dairy Technology and Animal Biotechnology will be based on the merit of the entrance exam (AIEEA-PG-2018) conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.  He further informed that GADVASU has been ranked 1st State Veterinary University by ICAR (2017) that has generated lot of interest among the students of GADVASU. After completion of degree, the Veterinary graduates are placed in the State/Central Animal Husbandry Departments/Army/Paramilitary organizations, R & D centres of Govt./Pvt. Sectors.  They may be self-employed or enter higher education in India or abroad, while Dairy Technologists have opportunities in Dairy industry, Milk Plants and Dairy cooperatives, multinationals and may undertake entrepreneurship. The fishery sector is also upcoming industry and has ample opportunities in Central Govt. /State Govt. /Fishery department and industry.
