Blood Donation Camp organised during Seven day NSS Special Winter camp on Community Health at Vet Varsity

Over 200 volunteers of the National Service Scheme registered on inaugural NSS Programme on the theme ‘Jan jan vich Sandesh pahunchao, saare desh nu tandrust banao’  to promote Community Health among masses.

Ludhiana: For more than 200 volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS), who became a part of the inauguration of a week-long NSS Special Winter camp, it was all about promoting community health and encourage more youth to participate in activities related to health, blood donation and nutrition programmes.

The seven day camp that got off to a colourful start was inaugurated by Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students’ Welfare-cum-EO, with volunteers getting exposure from him to bring a change in the society by contributing selflessly to the service of the community.  During the orientation programme, Mrs. Nidhi Sharma, Programme Coordinator, NSS, GADVASU, gave a presentation on ‘Role and Objectives of NSS'. 

A Blood Donation Camp was organised at Silver Jubilee Block and 40 units of blood was donated by the NSS volunteers. Dr G S Grewal, Blood Transfusion Officer from Civil Hospital came with his team to organise the blood donation camp. 

Organised by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), the camp with a theme " Jan jan vich Sandesh pahunchao, saare desh nu tandrust banao” had participants carry out a special poster and placard making competition in the morning session. “The ongoing 7 day campaign  includes making people aware of importance of health, by taking awareness rallies within campus and in the nearby villages besides participation in a blood donation camp”, informed NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Sivakumar from College of Dairy Science and Technology and Dr. CS Mukhopadhayay from School of Animal Biotechnology.  

DSW-cum-EO, Dr. Satyavan Rampal encouraged students to put in their best possible efforts in a friendly manner and become responsible citizens of the country and in making this 7 day programme a great success.

During the week awareness programmes on health and hygiene would be conducted by the experts who would dwell upon the various issues related to AIDS awareness, Anti Drug apart from poster making competitions, declamation and debate contests on the theme, informed Dr. SS Hassan, NSS Programme Officer of College of Fisheries.
