30 July 2012 - GADVASU TAKES ANTI-RAGGING MEASURES
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University has issued necessary instructions to its Deans and Directors in order to prohibit and eliminate the scourge of ragging. Dr. P.D. Juyal, Registrar, informed that all the colleges of the University has made Anti-raging Committees and Anti-ragging Squads as desired by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. GADVASU is strictly following the preventive measures for Anti-Ragging .The members of Committees and Squads of Colleges have been displayed on the website of the University. The college has also undertaken other measures of campaign as it may consider appropriate for prevention of ragging.
Dr. H.S. Sandhu Dean, College of Veterinary Science informed, that a booklet consisting of names and telephone numbers of the Anti-raging committees/squads will be provided to each student at the time of registration. All the wardens of the Hostel and Professional Counselors have been directed to ensure to follow the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and Justice Raghavan Committee recommendations without exception. An affidavit must be obtained from every Students Parent/Guardian separately to desist from ragging and for punishment to the defaulters.
Dr. S.P.S. Sangha, DSW-cum-Estate Officer, stated that the University has displayed the film on anti-ragging on its website and students in distress owing to ragging related incidents can access the telephone numbers displayed on the website. University authorities are vigilant to smell anything foul. We are guiding and counseling new & old students to develop a co-ordial & harmonious atmosphere in the campus. Stern action against mischievous students will be taken who will indulge in any act of ragging he added. Dr Sangha further mentioned that GADVASU is extending all the information related to ragging and displaying it on Notice Boards of the university to aware all the students.
