Different shades of social, Political and emotional issues were contribution of today’s events in Vet .Varsity Youth Festival. The day was of Mime, Mimicry, Mono Acting and One Act Plays. In the Morning session Quiz competition and Installation was held. Evening session was reserved for theatrical events. Whereas one act plays showcased the social and family issues they also highlighted the political concerns. Pali Bhupinder’s written play ‘Ik kudi Zindagi Udeekdi’ addressed the issue of child sex abuse. The mental trauma and social taboos of the victim. Play ‘Daldal’ highlighted the debt ridden peasantry’s problems. The vicious cycle of troubles of a tiller. Play ‘Salwan’ written by Ajmer Aulakh revealed the problem of suppressed female community. The agony of women’s still alive in the modern era. Play ‘Attay diyan Chidiyan’ also narrated the miseries of girl’s life. Prof. Kulbir Malik’s return play ‘The Dream’ conveyed the woes of child labour. The broken dream of a child and painful social setup was staged in the play. Play ‘Jihad’ return by Ranjit tapiala showcased the fabricated illusion of religious and political notions. The venue of these events was open air theater PAU.
Dr. Kulbir Singh Sandhu, Member, Punjab Public Service Commission was Chief Guest of the evening session and Sh. J.P. Singh PCS, Assistant Commissioner was Guest of Honour in the function. In today’s event all the three colleges at campus along with School of Animal Biotechnology, Vety. Polytechnic college Kaljharani, Khalsa College of Veterinary& Animal Sciences, Amritsar particapted.
Dr. Charan Kanwal Singh organizing secretary said that Folk Dances (Bhangra/Gidha), Classical Dance, Tribal Dance and Solo Dance will be performed in the afternoon session of tomorrow. It will be followed by Prize distribution function and cultural programme. The venue will remain same, open air theatre PAU. He revealed the results of yesterday’s and today’s events.
