The Post-Graduate Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (PGIVER) was upgraded from the Department of Animal Biotechnology to School of Animal Biotechnology in 2010 to focus its research and teaching programs with the following objectives:
To direct the research work towards the need of the farmers in the field of animal sciences.
To promote translational research in the area of Genomics, Vaccinology and diagnostics, Stem and cell biology and Molecular biology.
The priority research areas of the School are:
Identification, characterization/profiling of genes implicated in reproduction, production as well as disease and stress tolerance
Utilization in genetic improvement of farm animals
Molecular Diagnostics and Vaccinology
Development of molecular diagnostics, field-based rapid tests
