In NRI/OCI category, the university offers admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H., B. Tech. (Dairy Technology), B.F.Sc., B. Tech. (Biotechnology), Master’s and Ph.D. programmes. Only the NRIs/OCI or their children/ wards (as per the judgement of Honorable Supreme Court for Appeal (Civil) 5041 of 2005) are eligible to apply. The interested candidates are required to submit a duly filled application form (format available at university website) along with fee of US$ 750 or equivalent in Indian rupees (non-refundable) (the bank charges, GST, etc. will be borne by the applicant) and copy of relevant certificates showing grades/marks and conversion formulae for calculating percent equivalent marks.
The NRI/OCI candidates seeking admission to undergraduate programmes are not required to appear in NEET (UG) – 2021/JEE (Mains)- 2021 or any other entrance test. However, they must have passed 10+2 standard level examination with minimum of 50% marks in individual subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics and English as per eligibility requirement of the programme to be applied for. The eligibility of qualification will be subject to verification of equivalence with the 10+2 examination of recognized Indian Education Board(s), etc. The candidates must furnish the details of subjects studied, grades and percentage equivalent marks in the relevant columns of NRI/OCI Application Form. The syllabus of the courses studied at 10+1 and 10+2 level, contact details and the website address of the institute attended needs to be attached with the application. Mere submitting of the application does not guarantee admission to the programme applied for.
The NRI/OCI candidates seeking admission to Master’s and Ph.D. programmes must fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed for Resident Indian students. Their merit will be prepared on the basis of marks of qualifying examination and interview (as applicable).
The candidates are also required to submit self-attested photocopies of birth certificate, citizenship/permanent resident certificate and passport or any other valid document justifying their NRI/OCI status, along with the application form. The original documents will be verified at the time of counselling.
In NRI/OCI admissions, priority will be given to the candidates of Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh origin.
The selected candidates are required to pay the admission, tuition fee, etc. (as detailed at Sr. No. 5.4 (b) of Chapter V) by online transfer or by Bank Draft in US dollars from the bank account of NRI/OCI in his/her country of residence. The fee can also be paid in equivalent Indian Rupees in the form of Bank Draft issued from the NRE/OCI bank account of candidate/ parent/spouse maintained in India. In the latter case, the candidate is required to submit a certificate from the bank that the draft has been issued against candidate/ parent/spouse NRE/OCI account along with currency equivalence certificate. The bank draft should be drawn in favour of “Comptroller, GADVASU” payable at any scheduled bank in Ludhiana, India. The hostel dues and other fees and sundry charges as applicable, will be charged in Indian currency, in addition to admission and tuition fee, as per university rules. Foreign Bank Charges/Correspondent Bank Charges will be borne by the student, in addition to fee. The student will also have to pay GST which will be charged by the bank on Foreign Transactions.
In affiliated Private Veterinary College, the seat(s) remaining vacant/unfilled under NRI/OCI category, if any, shall be converted to Special Management Quota seats. These converted seats will be filled from open merit as per prescribed eligibility criteria.
