Admission Rules for NRI/OCI Category
In NRI/ OCI category, university offers admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H., B. Tech. (Dairy Technology), B.F.Sc., B. Tech. (Biotechnology), M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes, where only the NRIs/OCI or their children/wards (as per the judgement of honorable Supreme Court for Appeal (Civil) 5041 of 2005) are eligible to apply. The interested candidates are required to submit a duly filled application (format available at university website) along with fee of US$ 750 or equivalent in Indian rupees (non-refundable) and copy of relevant certificates showing grades/marks and conversion formulae for calculating percent equivalent marks.
The NRI/OCI candidates seeking admission to undergraduate programmes are not required to appear in NEET (UG) - 2020 or any other entrance test. However, they must have passed 10+2 standard level examination with minimum of 50% marks in individual subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics. The eligibility of qualification will be subject to verification of equivalence with the 10+2 examination of recognized Indian Education Board (s) etc. As such, the candidates must furnish the detail of subjects studied, grades and percentage equivalent marks in the relevant columns of NRI/OCI Application Form. The syllabus of the courses studied at 10+1 and 10+2 level and the website address of the institute attended needs to be attached with the application. Mere submitting of the application does not guarantee admission to the programme applied for.
The NRI/OCI candidates seeking admission to M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. must fulfill the prescribed qualifications as for resident Indian students. Their merit will be prepared on the basis of qualifying examination.
The candidates are also required to submit self-attested photocopy of birth certificate, citizenship/ permanent
resident certificate and passport or any other valid document justifying their NRI/OCI status, along with
the application form. The documents will be verified in original at the time of counselling.
In NRI/OCI admissions, priority will be given to the candidates of Punjab origin. In the event of seats remaining vacant thereafter, the NRI/OCI candidates of other Indian states will be considered who have already applied as prescribed above.
The selected candidates are required to pay the admission, tuition fee, etc. (as detailed in chapter V) by online transfer or by bank draft in US dollars from the bank account of NRI/ OCI in his/ her country of residence. The fees can also be paid in equivalent Indian rupees in the form of bank draft issued from the NRI/OCI bank account of candidate maintained in India. In the latter case, the candidate is required to submit a certificate from the bank that the draft has been issued against his/ her NRI/OCI account. The bank draft should be drawn in favour of Comptroller, GADVASU payable at any scheduled bank in Ludhiana, India. The online transfer of fees can be taken as per “Chapter V”. The hostel dues and other fees and sundry charges as applicable, will be charged in Indian currency, in addition to admission fee, as per university rules.
The seat(s) remaining vacant/ unfilled under NRI/ OCI category, if any, shall be converted and filled under Self Finance category followed by Open Merit and Other State categories in order in the constituent colleges of the university, and to the Special Management Quota seats in the private college affiliated with the university.
