Students Life

Our students are doing well in different extra mural activities at all India Agricultural & Veterinary Inter University fests and they have won a number of prizes and trophies in these events so we are organising this festival to polish and develop their talent and skill. It will be the spring board for students to achieve the new heights. Rangoli, Clay Modelling, painting, quiz, cartooning, collage making, photography, debate and poetic competitions are an essential part of studentship so it is right of students to enjoy this flavour. The students are in Great Spirit and full of zeal to become the part of youth festival. They are devoting their extra time to prepare their events to stage it in exclusive manner.

State level Procession Contest

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) grabbed first position in Punjab State Inter College Cultural Procession Competition organized by Punjab Art Council, Chandigarh (Government of Punjab).  The Cultural Procession Competition is a part of five-day-long Punjab Kala Utsav being hosted by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.  A total of 11 teams participated in the contest from the state of Punjab.

The theme for the cultural procession was ‘Samboh dhiyo putro saambho, dharti paun te paani; naa saambe taan manavta di, ho jau khatam kahani”.  In a bid to reduce the pollution caused by stubble burning, GADVASU cultural contingent of 30 students enacted their winning performance on the ongoing much debated topic. Welfare Officer GADVASU, Mrs. Nidhi Sharma , stated that stubble burning is a major cause of air pollution and farmers mainly from Punjab and Haryana burn it as a low-cost straw-disposal practice and that was the reason to chose this topic for spreading awareness among harvesters and adopt ‘happy seeder’ technique etc.

GADVASU vice-chancellor Dr Amarjit Singh Nanda lauded the students for their achievement and theatrical skills. He said such cultural competitions provide a pedestal to the youth to exhibit their hidden abilities and perform worthily and effectively.

While congratulating the winners, Dr. Satyavan Rampal, DSW, said “youngsters have put their best foot forward in their performance and it is the participation that matters”

The winning team of GADVASU was facilitated by the PAU vice-chancellor, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon and the eminent Punjabi laureate Dr. Surjit Patar, Chairman, Punjab Arts Council along with the Chief Guest for the evening, Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu, Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Dr. Nirmal Jaura, DSW, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
