Brief Introduction

Dr R S Sethi, Professor, took over the charge of Additional Director of Research, GADVASU, Ludhiana, in March 2022. He obtained his BVSc and AH, MVSc, and PhD (Anatomy) degrees in 1994, 1996, and 2005 from Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana (PAU), respectively. Dr. Sethi joined PAU as Assistant Professor (Vety. Anatomy) in 1997 and was elevated to the post of Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2012. He served as founder Head, Department of Animal Biotechnology, College of Animal Biotechnology, from 2018–2022. Dr. Sethi is also serving as an adjunct professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Saskatchewan (UoS), Canada, and playing an instrumental role in the collaborative research projects of UoS, McGill University, Canada, and GADVASU. Dr. Sethi is a visiting scientist at the University of Saskatchewan and a visiting fellow at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok.
 Dr. Sethi has been a prolific researcher and has handled 11 research projects. His main research areas include airway hyperresponsiveness, inflammation, characterization of immune cells, and the development of a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. Dr. Sethi is actively involved in various international collaborations, including as an ad hoc member of the One Health Working Group of the World Veterinary Association (WVA), member of the Steering Committee for the World Veterinary Association’s (WVA) project on Global Quality Standards for Veterinary Education, project coordinator of the Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program on Genome Editing for Food Security and Environment Sustainability (GEFSES) in collaboration with the University of McGill Canada and the University of Calgary Canada, and co-investigator in the OIE-funded twinning of the Veterinary Programs at GADVASU and the University of Calgary.
 He has published 1 book, 10 manuals, 8 review articles, and 129 research papers, and he has guided nine MVSc/MSc and 10 PhD students. He is a Fellow of the Society for Immunology and Immunopathology (SIIP) and the Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists (IAVA). In recognition of his scholastic achievements, Dr. Sethi has been bestowed upon with several awards and honors, including the Best Teacher Award by the University (2018–2019), the Eminent Veterinarian Award (2023), and the Best Veterinarian-Punjab Award 2022 by the Indian Veterinary Association, the Best Research Publication Award 2022 by COABT, the Veterinary Anatomist of the Year (2021) Award by IAVA, a short-term visiting fellowship by the American Association of Anatomists, the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) sponsorship, and the 30 Best Paper and Best Poster Awards. He was also honored with an Appreciation Award from GADVASU for his contributions towards the establishment of the COVID-19 testing facility at GADVASU.
 Dr. Sethi is Chief Editor of the Indian Veterinary Journal, Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Occupational Medicine and Toxicology (IF: 3.0), published by BMC, and Executive Member of the Society for Immunology and Immunopathology. Dr. Sethi has been instrumental in the creation of the Veterinary Alumni Association of the College of Animal Biotechnology and served the society as its founder general secretary. He is a life member of 12 professional societies and a referee for various national and international journals.
