International Conference of IDEA kick started at Vet Varsity
Two days international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Engineering Applications for Sustainable Dairying’ started on October 13, 2023 under the aegis of Indian Dairy Engineers Association (IDEA) at the College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. The inaugural function was decorated by dignitaries including Dr. R S Sodhi, President, Indian Dairy Association (IDA) as Chief Guest, Dr Kamal Kumar Garg, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Science, Technology and Environment., Government of Punjab as Guest of Honour, Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Er. S C Aggarwal, President IDEA.
Dr. R S Sodhi, President, IDA mentioned that the dairy engineers play a pivotal role in the nation's dairy industry. He discussed the challenges faced by the various stakeholders as well as the opportunities available in this industry. Dr Kamal Kumar Garg praised the organizing team for conducting an academia -industry interface which would provide a common platform for discussing the ongoing issues in the dairy industry. Dr. Inderjeet Singh applauded the zeal and meticulous planning of the organizing team for arranging this conference in an efficient manner. He emphasized that there is a need for development of state-of-the-art tools for the detection of milk adulteration and dairy engineers and chemists could play a significant role in the same. Dr. R.S. Sethi, Convener of this event and Dean, CODST told that academia, researchers, policy makers, students as well as industry stakeholders from across the country are attending this event. Dr. Amandeep Sharma, Organizing Secretary said that seven technical sessions will be conducted during the course of 2 days (October 13 and14, 2023) of this event. National and international speakers will share their experience and ideas. During the inaugural session, lifetime achievement awards, Best Masters and PhD thesis awards were also given. Officers of the University, head of the departments, faculty and students were also present during the inaugural session.
