An international training program for Senior Veterinary Officers and Scientists of Nepal was organized at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, (GADVASU) Ludhiana on the subject “Augmentation of Fertility in Buffaloes”. It was sponsored by International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Nairobi, Kenya. The training program was organized under aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, in collaboration with Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, GADVASU. A total of nine Veterinary officers/livestock development officers/scientists from various organizations of Nepal participated in this training. This training program was mainly based on improving and updating the knowledge of participants regarding buffalo reproduction specifically on delayed puberty, anestrus, seasonal breeding, infertility, uterine torsion, uterine infections etc. of buffalo breeding 
along with novel techniques like superovulation, embryo transfer, semen cryopreservation, 
estrus synchronization, handling of semen, sexed semen technology etc. for improving the reproductive efficiency in buffaloes.
Dr. Habibar Rahman, Representative of South-East Asia, ILRI, the Chief Guest of the valedictory program, appreciated the facilities developed by GADVASU in short span of time and stressed upon the importance of buffalo in the livestock sector. Dr. Rahman also told that ILRI is working on allevi
ation of adverse effects of climatic change on livestock production, minimizing losses due to emerging diseases and enhancing role of women in livestock sector.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU ascertained that this training will definitely improve the knowledge and skill of 
participants working in field of buffalo reproduction in Nepal as well as it shall open up the new areas of collaboration between two countries. He advised the trainees to adopt the technologies learned at GADVASU back in their country for benefit of farmers. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Extension Education thanked ILRI for sponsoring this training program and assured technical help to scientists from developing countries in future under such programs. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. R S Grewal and Dr Ajeet Kumar, coordinators of training and faculty of Veterinary Gyanecology and Obstetrics for organizing the training program. The participants gave their valuable feedback regarding the lectures delivered by the experts and successful completion of the training program.
