Teaching and Other Appointments

  • My teaching interests are in the field of Animal Nutrition, covering core and applied aspects such as transition nutrition, DCAD, rumen fermentation, feed evaluation, and methane mitigation. I strongly believe that Animal Nutrition is the backbone of livestock and pet management, as it directly influences health, productivity, and sustainability. Proper feeding strategies not only enhance performance but also reduce disease incidence, thereby minimizing the cost of treatment. My teaching approach emphasizes developing students’ interest in Animal Nutrition by linking concepts with practical applications and real- life problem-solving. I also integrate recent advancements in feed evaluation and nutritional interventions to make teaching more research-oriented and applied, ensuring students gain both conceptual clarity and hands-on learning experience.

Area of Research Interests

  • My research interests lie in the field of Animal Nutrition, with a focus on ruminant nutrition, feed evaluation, and sustainable feeding strategies. During my postgraduate studies, I investigated the effects of Dietary Cation–Anion Difference (DCAD) on transition Murrah buffaloes, aiming to optimize metabolic balance, health, and productivity during the critical transition period. My doctoral research involved designing and developing an indigenous continuous rumen bioreactor for estimating methane emissions and establishing an in vitro feed evaluation technique that reduces dependence on fistulated animals and preliminary trials, offering advantages over conventional batch methods such as IVGPT. In the future, I aspire to advance research on methane mitigation, precision nutrition, and novel feed additives, while also designing efficient, cost-effective feeding strategies for farmers in Punjab through the utilization of locally available feed resources. These efforts aim to enhance milk production profitability, animal health, and environmentally sustainable livestock management practices.
