5 days Poultry farming training programme for self-employment by KVK, Barnala

> Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Barnala organized a five days vocational training course on poultry farming for rural youth and farmer of schedule caste families under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana scheme. A total 35 participants from 24 villages of Barnala district were participated in this training programme. Dr. P.S. Tanwar, Associate Director, KVK, Barnala inaugurated the training programme. He said that there is great scope of self-employment in field of poultry farming by adopting either broiler or layer farming at large scale in scientific manner. He also told that backyard poultry farming is a subsidiary occupation and extra income may generated by less investment and  eggs may also be got for house hold consumption. He told that that a number of companies ready to buyback the broilers in the district. He informed that 30 days old chicks will also be provided to trained schedule caste families to promote the back yard poultry farming in the district. He gave detailed lecture about breed of poultry, brooding management and housing management. Dr. Surender Sing shared information on preparation of balanced ration for different categories of poultry and importance of feeding of balanced ration, nutritional diseases and their management. He also described about management. of poultry during inclined weather conditions, marketing  management, vaccination and deworming in poultry.  Dr. Khushvir Singh, delivered a lecture on integrated poultry-cum fish farming. Officials from State Department of Animal Husbandry Barnala were also invited to deliver lectures to the trainees. They delivered lecture on schemes implemented for poultry development by Department of animal husbandry, common diseases and their management. Officers of lead bank Barnala  also stated about bank schemes  for poultry farmers and formalities needed for  getting loan from bank.
