Vet Varsity organizes workshop-cum-training course for KVKs Scientists

Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a one day workshop-cum-training course on "Precision Livestock Management for Sustainable Animal Production" on 8th February, 2017 for the Animal scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Punjab. This training programme was attended by 27 scientists from different KVKs of PAU, GADVASU & ICAR. On this occasion   Dr H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education presided over function and Chief Guest was Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Post Graduate Studies GADVASU Ludhiana.

Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh interacted with the participants and said that, Livestock farming is an important aspect for the farmers and is a source of regular income but it needs lots of precision for getting optimum production, so such workshops are the good platform to learn the latest technologies developed by the university. He emphasized to get the information from the scientists during various presentations to clear queries and disseminate the information to the farmers. Dr HK Verma addressed the participants regarding extension approaches, latest livestock technologies developed by the GADVASU for sustainable livestock development and upliftment of socio-economic status of the farmers. He highlighted the achievements of Varsity and various technologies released by the University for Increasing Farmer’s Income Levels and enlightened scope of entrepreneurship in the field of dairy sector and other allied fields. He stressed that livestock farmer can become Dairypreneur, Fishpreneur, Goatpreneurs and become job provider.

Different experts from GADVASU presented their lectures on various topics viz; ethno-veterinary practices, precision livestock farming, preventive measures to improve the health of dairy animals, efficient reproductive management, breakthrough technologies in veterinary medicine ,value addition and discussed with the participants on practical problems and their solutions for sustainable livestock development in the state. Dr. Y.S. Jadoun, Course Coordinator of the programme extended vote of thanks.

Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Directorate for successfully organizing the workshop to make it a grand success and asserted that GADVASU is always ready to help the farmers for their well beings. He emphasized on the transfer of innovative livestock technologies from lab to land and strengthening of extension services of GADVASU.
