Specialized training programme on Goat farming from Monday
For upliftment of small and marginal farmers and to run goat farming as an enterprise on commercial level, the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana is going to organize one week training programme on Goat Farming from 08.07.2019 (Monday). Dr. H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education informed that this is a one week training programme and for getting admission in this training programme, one has to fill a form, which can be downloaded from University website www.gadvasu.in. Dr Rajesh Kasrija, Coordinator of this training programme informed that in this training programme, the trainees will be provided knowledge about various topics like breeds, breeding, management, shed design, weather management, vaccination protocols, diseases & their prevention, value addition of meat and economics of goat farming etc., He further told that besides the theoretical lectures practical training on handling of goats, measuring temperature, signs of healthy animals, age determination by seeing dentition and hoof management will also provided to the trainees. Dr S K Kansal, Head, Department of Veterinary extension education said that Veterinary University is disseminating knowledge on Goat farming in the form of printed book and through a mobile app, which can be downloaded from Play store. Varsity is providing hand held support to farmers through Progressive goat farmers association.
