KVK, Mohali in collaboration with Ryat Bahra University conducted One day seminar on “In-situ crop residue management”

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mohali in collaboration with Ryat Bahra university conducted One day seminar on “In-situ crop residue management” at Ryat Bahra University, Sahauran Distt Mohali. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director KVK Mohali while inaugurating the programme guided the participants regarding ill effect of residue burning. He also shared his views on use of straw as animal feed and its effectiveness in reducing the shortage of dry fodder condition for the animals. Dr. Priyanka Suryavanshi, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) explained the importance of agricultural machinery for In-situ crop residue management. Dr Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) emphasized the importance of crop residues in horticultural crops.

During this Seminar, Prof. Dr Daljit Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University thanked KVK for their collaboration with university and creating awareness among university students. He appealed all students to act as ambassadors’ and convince farmers to not burn paddy straw. Dr Amita Mahajan, Dean & Dr Amit Kumar, HoD also shared their experiences with audience. Dr Shashipal, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production) was also present on this occasion.

During the programme, different activities like Debate & Poster making were also organized. Around 300 students participated in these competitions on the theme of Crop Residue Management. In the end KVK team thanked university administration, faculty members and other supporting staff for making this programme a grand success. The participants were also awarded for their efforts during the event.
