Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran organized one day farmer awareness camp regarding 
management of crop residue and to create awareness regarding irrigation water saving under JAL Shakti Abhyan at village Dadehar Sahib, block Naushehra Pannuan Distt, Tarn Taran. In this camp, 80 farmers of village participated. On this occasion, Dr. Balwinder Kumar Deputy Director (Training) aware farmers regarding management of crop residue. He said that in coming Rabi season, KVK will conduct demonstration on different methods of paddy straw management in the village to aware farmers regarding different techniques of paddy straw management. He said that with incorporation of crop residue in the soil the requirement of chemical fertilizer is decreased and it also helps in increasing crop yield. He informed farmers regarding different activities of KVK and urged them to take maximum benefits from these activities. Dr. Navjot Singh Brar, Assistant Professor (Agonomy) gave awareness to farmers regarding 
judicious use of water in paddy. He asked farmers to keep water stagnant in the paddy field only for first fifteen days after transplanting and thereafter apply irrigation water two days after the standing water will leach down. He also urge farmers to apply only 90 kg urea per acre in paddy fields, as the excessive use of Urea leads to increase in incidence of insect pests and disease in the crop. He also guided farmers to stop using granular insecticides in paddy crop. The farmers present in the camp ensured that they will not burn paddy straw in their fields in coming Rabi season and provide full co-operation to KVK in campaign regarding crop residue management.
