College of Veterinary Science Observes Anti-Ragging Week

In a spirited effort to promote a safe and inclusive campus environment, the College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana celebrated Anti-Ragging Week by organizing various events. A Declamation and Extempore event along with an Inter-Class Poster Making Competition was arranged. It was organized by the Literary forum and Fine Arts Club of the college. Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean said that the events aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to encourage students to stand united against any form of harassment.
Students passionately shared their views on the topic "Need for observance of Anti-Ragging Day and Week" raising awareness about ragging's harmful effects, especially in educational institutions. Participants discussed the effectiveness of strict anti-ragging laws and policies and unanimously agreed that the ban on ragging is a crucial and commendable step to protect the safety, dignity and well-being of the newcomers in the university.
In the poster competition, the students enthusiastically participated with their creativity and commitment to the cause through powerful visuals and impactful messages. Each entry was adjudged on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall presentation.The competition not only highlighted the artistic talents of the students but also served as a platform to reinforce the college’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. 
Dr. Devendra Pathak, and Dr. Nitin Mehta organized these events and inspired students to pledge that they would take a strong stand against ragging. Students collectively committed to uphold dignity and mutual respect, vowing never to engage in or support ragging.
Dr. JPS Gill, Vice-Chancellor, lauded the initiative and commended the efforts of the organizers in fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment. He emphasized that there is a dire need to create a ragging-free campus and it is not a one-time effort but a continuous process that requires ongoing awareness, active participation and collective responsibility from the entire academic community.
