American delegation visits Veterinary University

We are discussing the topics of sustainable development and the integration of complex issues related to livestock and poultry production, biofuels from animal waste, plant by products and implications to environment and public health. These views were expressed by Dr. Prema Arasu one o;f  5 member delegation from North Carolina State University, USA who was on one day visit at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The other delegates were Dr. Maria Correa, Dr. Paul Bergey, Dr. Kelly Zering and  Dr. Vivek Fellner.

            While discussing on different issues with officers and Heads of the Departments of university, both the sides delivered a number of points. Dr. Maria Correa said that the economy and conditions of both the countries are different but there are a number of issues which may be discussed with mutual cooperation and research. She said that Transboundry Zoonoses diseases are also a major issue in all the National and International Veterinary Conferences.  She was of the view that we should work together to nullify the undue panic of these diseases which can be controlled with common research and understanding.  Dr. Paul Bergey said that the environment is the main concern of the hour.  We can work commonly on bio fuels and animal waste.  The America is also looking forward to study the indigenous system of management of animal waste in different countries. Dr. Onkar Singh Parmar, Director of Extension Education chaired the meeting. He said that a large number of people are opting dairy farming profession.  He said that animal breeding is very helpful in developing good herd of animals.  Peoples are showing their interest in goat farming also, he added. Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean, College of Veterinary described the educational functioning of university.  The members of both the sides also discussed the educational system of both the countries.  They were of the view that we can work on some common courses for the upliftment of livestock community. Dr. J. P. S. Gill delivered his views on food security, safe use of pesticides, zoonosis diseases.  He shared the practices of university for the betterment of public health.  Dr. M. P.S. Bakhshi threw the light on nutritious and healthy food of animals which can be easily made by waste products like vegetables, wheat straw and remains of human food. 

Meeting was also attended by Dr. P. D. Juyal, Dr J. K. Sharma, Dr. S. S. Nagra, Dr. Kirti Dua, Dr. H. M. Saxena, Dr. M. P. Gupta, Dr. Aman Dev. Sharma and Dr. Interpreet Kaur.  They delivered a number of informations to the American delegation on different issues..
