Nepalese Technicians at GADVASU for FAO Sponsored Training in Diagnostics

The Departments of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology of the College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU, Ludhiana are jointly organizing a two weeks training course in Microbiological and Pathological Laboratory Techniques for Nepalese technicians. The training course is sponsored by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The training is being hosted at GADVASU till 27th August. Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena, Professor cum Head, Department of Veterinary Microbiology is the Course Incharge and Coordinator for training in Microbiology and Dr. Naresh K. Sood, Professor cum Head, Department of Veterinary Pathology is the Coordinator for the training in Pathology.

The training was inaugurated by Dr. P. D. Juyal, Registrar, GADVASU and Dean, College of Veterinary Science. He highlighted the need for such coordinated efforts among the neighboring countries in the region for human resource development and networking for effective control of infectious diseases of domestic animals and zoonoses like avian influenza and swine flu. Dr. H. M. Saxena welcomed the trainees and thanked Dr. M. S. Oberoi, FAO Consultant for chosing GADVASU for this prestigious assignment and Dr. Simrat Sagar, Dean for materializing the proposal by his perseverance. Dr. N. K. Sood gave an overview of the training contents to the delegates. The inaugural function was attended by the faculty of the College.
