Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar organized a farmers’ workshop under Jal Shakti 
Abhiyan to create awareness regarding water conservation on 19th July, 2019. The camp was attended by 20 farmers of different villages of district Mohali. While welcoming the attendees, Deputy Director KVK, Dr. Yashwant Singh encouraged the farmers to utilize the water in judicious manner. He advised farmers to replace paddy with low water demanding crops like maize, kharif moong and kharif mash. Dr. Munish Sharma apprised farmers regarding micro-irrigation techniques like drip and sprinklers in cash crops like sugarcane, fruit orchards and vegetables for efficient utilization of water.
Dr. Shashi Pal suggested various ways of water saving in livestock farms viz. installation of different types of water drinkers, nipple/bowl etc. He also motivated farmers to collect surplus farm water in tanks for its use in agriculture. Dr. Vikas Phulia encouraged participants to avoid wastage of water in domestic household activities. He also appealed them to install water alarm in roof top water storage tanks. Farmers pledged to adopt various ways for water conservation and its efficient utilization in agricultural and household activities.
