Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S.Nagar (Mohali) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal
Sciences University, Ludhiana organized one week vocational training on “Scientific Pig-cum-fish farming” at its campus. Twenty three farmers actively participated in this training programme. Under the guidance of Dr Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, K.V.K, Mohali conducted this training programme. In his inaugural address, he motivated farmers to adopt pig farming and its integration with aquaculture for efficient utilization of resources and maximizing the profit from per unit area. He also briefed trainees regarding various facilities provided for the farmers by K.V.K and GADVASU, Ludhiana. He delivered lectures on integration of piggery with fish farming and comfortable housing management for different categories of pig. Dr Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production (Training Coordinator) gave detailed lecture and practical exposure on various breeds of pig, feed formulations for different category of pig, record keeping and economics of viable pig farm. Dr. Vikas Phulia, Assistant Professor, Fisheries (Training Coordinator) delivered lectures such as site selection and pond construction, species selection, stocking management, water quality, feeding and health management and fish 
processing and value addition of fish. He also shared his experience among trainees for fish farming system. Dr Amit Sharma, Assistant professor (LPM) delivered lectures on breeding system in pig, diseases of pig, their diagnosis, treatment and control. Dr Pawan Kumar, Assistant professor (LPT) delivered lecture on processing and value addition of pork and their marketing. Dr Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Sci.) shared information on utilization and proper management of kitchen waste to minimize the feed cost in the pig farming. Dr Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) gave lecture on utilization of vegetable leftover in pig farming and to cut down cost of feeding. During this training programme, trainees were given practical exposure at Sidhu & Kahlon Private Pig Farm, Ranjitpura, Mohali. An interactive lecture was given by CM awardee progressive pig farmer S. Dalwinder Singh. He shared his vast experience of pig farming with trainees. All participants thanked KVK faculty for conducting such an excellent training programme.
