Institutes of National Repute showcased their technology at Vet Varsity Mela

On the second day of the three days Regional Agriculture and Pashu Palan Mela at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU)   two books were released on subject 'Macchi Palan' in Punjabi language and 'Kritrim Grabhadaan' in Hindi language by Vice- Chancellor Dr. A S  Nanda and other dignitaries. Dr. Nanda said that this is a platform for researcher and farmers to discuss their common issues of problems and research. He also revealed that as this is Regional Agriculture Fair so we witnessed different institutes of national repute to share their knowledge and experiences to the farmers,

In the mela visitors witnessed technologies of different national institutes participating in the event. This information was shared by Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, Director of Extension Education. He said that different institutes from different states exhibited their technologies, services and products in the on-going mela. He said that Indian Institute of Maize Research (ICAR) informed about good quality of different varieties of maize which are profitable to the farmers. Experts of Sher-E-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu and CSK, Palampur revealed about the mandate of the institute and gave the knowledge of their training programmes and different types of technologies to the farmers. Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi informed about good quality of seeds for agriculture and fodder crops. Central Integrated pest management centre awakened farmers about judicious use of chemicals and pesticides. Central Avian Research Institute, Bareilly and Central Poultry Development organization, Chandigarh informed about backyard poultry farming, value addition of poultry meat and eggs for more profitability. Regional Fodder Station, Hisar explained about the good quality seeds for different fodder varieties. ATARI (ICAR) of Ludhiana informed about various development rural schemes and programmes  for uplifting the farmers through network of KVKs. Three stalls of Ministry of Agriculture i.e. Extension Division, Coconut Development Board and NAFED informed about different schemes of agriculture ministry. National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal enlightened farmers about value addition of milk products and quality animal germplasm. Central Institute of research on buffaloes, Hisar showcased their R&D on Murrah and Nili  Ravi breed of  buffaloes. CIPHET, Ludhiana gave knowledge to farmers about value addition and packaging.

The Mela allures thousands of farmers from all the nook and corner of Punjab along with farmers from neighbouring states. Mela was also attended by dignitaries, Officers, heads of departments, faculty, students and staff. The Regional Agriculture & Pashu Palan Mela will be concluded on 23 September 2019. all the departments of the university and participating national institutes will showcase their technology and knowledge on Monday also.
