KVK, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) organizes Animal Welfare and Treatment Camp

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, GADVASU, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) organized an Animal Welfare and Treatment Camp on the occasion of Kisan Diwas, at village-Rasanheri, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali). 60 farmers attended this animal welfare and treatment camp-cum farmer’s awareness camp. These farmers were belonging to pind Rasanheri, Naggal faizgarh, Jhanjheri and also neibouring villages. The cases of animals were handled by Dr Bilawal Singh from GADVASU, Ludhiana. He also provided consultancy and advisory to the farmers regarding to keep animal healthy. Scientific lectures were delivered on various aspects of dairy animals regarding feed, fodder, livestock management, animal health and milk production. Dr Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director (Training) delivered lecture on management of animals in winter season, preparation of silage for dairy animals. Dr Sahiba Grewal delivered lecture on treatment and management of mastitis. Dr A.P.S. Toor shared his experienced to the farmers and motivated farmers to vaccinate their animals with FMD vaccination. S. Balwinder Singh, sarpach,  village Naggal Faizgarh and veterinary inspector, S. Sukhjeet Singh also participated actively in this event.

Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra stressed upon the development of skill of the rural population of the Mohali. Such type of camp helps farmers, farm women, and rural youth in developing the managemental skill in livestock and agricultural farming system. He also highlighted various facilities developed and provided by GADVASU and KVK, Mohali.

All teaching, non-teaching as well as supporting staffs actively participated in this event to make it successful. Dr Shashi Pal coordinated the animal treatment programme. Free medicines were distributed among the farmers to keep animal in good health. A stall for selling of books, mineral mixture, uromin licks was also arranged. KVK distributed literatures as pamphlets, leaflets etc,. Swachhta pakhwara activity was also conducted and initiatives were taken at veterinary dispensaries to aware the villagers.
