Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) organized a weekly vocational training programme at village Chanalon under the guidance of Dr Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director (Training) on Kitchen Gardening. Training
Incharge, Dr. Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) gave detailed information on design and layout of kitchen garden, suitable crops, nursery production, cultivation practices and management of kitchen garden. Dr. Sharma appealed farmers to adopt kitchen gardening in backyard of houses and nearby so that mandate of nutritional security and crop diversification can be achieved. In this training, Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) informed the farmers about the various techniques of post-harvest management, storage, processing and value addition of fruits and vegetables. On the last day of this camp, the farmers were taken to exposure visit of progressive farms of district Mohali. Vegetable seed kits, certificates and literature were also distributed to the farmers on the occasion. Trainees thanked the KVK team for this training program.
