To Provide Maximum Scientific knowledge to the farmers is our primary duty – Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Vet Varsity

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana along with Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, Director, Extension Education, Dr. Satyavan Rampal, DSW-cum-EO, Jagwinder Jit Singh Grewal, ADC(General), Tarn Taran  visited and monitored the ongoing construction work of Regional Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Buffaloes at village Booh, district Tarn Taran.  Dr Amandeep Sharma XEN and Dr P Malhotra along with construction Committee explained the various units of the Buffalo Farm and Admin block of the project.Sh. Sukhwinder  Sidhu, Vice-Chairman Block Samiti, Patti, KP Gill PA to MLA Patti, Sukhraj Singh Kirtowal and Sarpanchs of village Harike and Booh were also present. Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (T), welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and other officers at KVK and informed about RRTC and ongoing activities of KVK to the team. At the RRTC site, Vice Chancellor, Dr Singh analytically examined the work and proposed valuable suggestions for setting up various infrastructures at this center. He said that the work of RRTC will be completed as soon as possible and the buffalo center will be one of the best outstation center of university for delivering facilities to the livestock farmers in the entire Majha region. It will provide the germplasm and demonstrate best management practices to the dairy farmers for their adoption.

At KVK, Vice-Chancellor witnessed exhibition and various demonstration units. He also interacted with scientists' individually and discussed about their thrust area and activities. He also visited Soil & Water testing and Home Science lab and extended important suggestions for providing maximum scientific information to the farmers of the area. Dr Singh along with Director Extension Education and KVK team also took a round of Farmer Field School on Integrated Pig cum Fish farming unit established under the guidance of KVK at village Chappri Sahib. The Vice Chancellor interacted with farmers and shared useful tips for efficient management and marketing of livestock.He said that shortly University will train the farmers on Artificial Insemination in pigs and semen of new germplasm brought from UK will be made available to the Pig farmers. The farmers urged Vice Chancellor to help them in strengthening this sector. Dr. Harish Verma, DEE thanked the Vice Chancellor for his maiden visit to RRTC on Buffaloes and KVK, Booh.
