Dr. Kulbir Singh Sandhu retires from the Vet Varsity

After serving 36 years in the field of veterinary sciences Dr K. S. Sandhu retired from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana after attaining the age of superannuation. A farewell function was arranged in the honour of Dr. K. S. Sandhu. On this occasion Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor applauded the services of Dr. Sandhu. He said that Dr. Sandhu contributed a lot in the field of epidemiology. His research, academic and administrative achievements were discussed and acknowledged in the farewell function by officers of the university. They extended their warm wishes on his retirement.

Dr. Sandhu did his graduation and post-graduation from Punjab Agricultural University in Veterinary Sciences. He did his Ph.D from University of Guleph, Canada and Post Doctorate from AUBURN University, USA. Dr. Sandhu started his career as Assistant Professor (Bacteriology) in 1984 in PAU, Ludhiana. After emancipation of GADVASU he served institute in different capacities as Director Student's Welfare cum EO, Director of Extension Education and Dean, College of Fisheries. He also served as Member, Punjab Public Service Commission, Patiala for six years.

Dr. Sandhu was decorated with different prestigious awards and honors in his career path like Milton Travel Scholarship, Rogar/STB award, University of Guleph Graduate Student Fellowship and Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship. Dr. Sandhu also contributed a book on the title 'Handbook on Infectious Animal Diseases'. Later this book was translated and published by Brazil University in year 2016. He handled a number of research projects as principal investigator for monitoring, surveillance and diagnosis of important animal diseases. He was placed in different national repute committees of microbiology and also functioned as National Consultant, Avian Influenza by Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nation.
