Due to lodging of false FIR against a senior professor Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University teachers continued their protest for the third consecutive day. There is a strong wave of resentment among Veterinary faculty and as per informed sources the Veterinary fraternity throughout Punjab is gearing up for a protest at state level. According to legal experts this complaint is a perfect example of exploitation of zero FIR concept by an influential official whose dog died due to forceful physical handling by his own security guards.
The case has led to serious embarrassment as the sections mentioned in the zero FIR have nothing to do with the case. The higher police officials of the district assured the association to quash the false FIR by Monday evening. Meanwhile, the Vet varsity teachers continued their protest wearing black badges. In an emergency meeting the executive body of teachers decided to intensify the stir if the false FIR is not quashed as promised by concerned authorities.
