Tree Plantation Drive kick-starts at Vet Varsity

The Landscaping Wing of Directorate of Students’ Welfare cum Estate Organisation of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) organized a Tree Plantation Drive in the university campus. It was arranged with financial assistance received under the World Bank funded IDP-NAHEP project operational in the university. The drive was inaugurated by Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU from the Administrative Block of university by planting saplings of Bismarckia Palm. Dr Baljit Singh, Vice President (Research), University of Saskatchewan, Canada and officers of the university also planted the saplings in the plantation drive with great zeal and fervour.

This year’s plantation drive was organized as a part of celebrations of India’s 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. More than 750 saplings of various plant categories will be planted under the subsequent phases of the drive with the ultimate aim to make a "Green GADVASU Campus". The drive in its multiple phases will cover the areas of Administrative Block, various constituent colleges, Teaching Veterinary Hospital and hostels of the university.Dr. Inderjeet Singh appreciated the drive and highlighted that tree plantation is one of the most engaging, environmentally-friendly activities, hence; everybody should participate in tree plantation to conserve and protect our planet as numerous long- and short-term benefits are associated with tree plantation.

Dr. H.S. Banga, Registrar of the university said as per the need of the hour the valuable tips provided Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students' Welfare cum Estate Officer congratulated the whole team of Landscape Wing for their sincere efforts in organization of the event. Dr. Rampal also thanked all the officers, faculty & staff members of the university for their participation in the event.
