National Service Scheme wing of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organised a registration drive of NSS volunteers to join as Civil Defence Volunteers on MyBharat portal . Mr. Davinder Singh, Team Leader at AECC Global, Ludhiana was invited to sensitise the NSS Volunteers to step up to support the country. It was organized on the advisory of the Regional Directorate of NSS.
Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Director Students' Welfare informed that NSS volunteers promised to assist in hospitals, fire services, police and other establishments during emergencies. He informed that Nodal officers at the university level have been appointed to address any concerns of the students ensuring effective communication.
Dr. Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator, informed that the registration drive aimed to assess and enhance the readiness of civil defence mechanisms among the youth at university level wherein more than 200 volunteers have given declaration.
Dr. Narender Chandla, NSS Programme Officer confirmed that volunteers read the Civil Defence Regulations, 1968 and declared that they are physically fit to render efficient service as a member of the Corps.
Dr. Vishal Sharma, NSS Programme Officer added that the NSS Volunteers who had earlier trained in Disaster Management by NDRF Personnel during a camp also registered as Civil Defence Warriors.
Dr. SS Hassan, NSS Programme Officer informed volunteers about civil defence aspects to protect themselves.
