
The Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle (GGSSC) organised a refreshment service during the first and second rounds of counselling for the College of Dairy and Food Science Technology, College of Fisheries, and College of Animal Biotechnology, held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana.
The sewa included serving tea and samosas to students and their parents throughout the day as they attended the counselling sessions. The initiative aimed to provide comfort during the long admission process and create a warm, welcoming environment for prospective students and their families. This noble gesture was appreciated by all, especially the Vice Chancellor, Dr. J.P.S. Gill, who acknowledged the GGSSC team's contribution in fostering a compassionate and service-oriented atmosphere on campus. Faculty and staff present during the counselling also commended the efforts of the team for upholding the spirit of community support.
Dr. J.S. Hundal, President, and Dr. D. Pathak, General Secretary of the GGSSC Vet Varsity Unit and guiding forces behind the initiative, along with active team members Dr. Harkirat Singh, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, Mr. Dilchain Singh, Dr VP Singh, Dr Sarabjeet Kaur and Mr. Rashpal Singh. They interacted with the incoming students and their families. The presence of GGSSC members provided a sense of familiarity and encouragement to those entering a new academic journey.
Parents and students expressed heartfelt gratitude for the thoughtful service. Many new students also showed interest in joining GGSSC to participate in such meaningful community efforts. The event reinforced the spirit of selfless service (sewa) and encouraged greater student involvement in promoting values of humility, kindness, volunteerism, and collective responsibility values that are central to the mission of GGSSC.
