Reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Scie
nces University, Ludhiana, initiated a tree plantation drive. The initiative, themed as "Lets Move Towards a Greener Future" witnessed an enthusiastic participation.
The campaign was ceremoniously inaugurated by Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor by planting the tree sapling. Dr. Gill underscored the crucial responsibility of academic institutions in promoting ecological awareness and taking decisive action against climate change. He advocated for collective involvement in such initiatives, stressing the importance of safeguarding the planet for future generations. He further stated that the drive also aims to nurture a culture of ecological mindfulness especially among the students under the designed slogan.

human, Director Students’ Welfare cum Estate Officer, shared that the drive will cover various parts of the university’s campus. Approximately 500 saplings, provided by the District Forest Department, will be planted during the initial phase. In addition, over 1000 more saplings will be planted in subsequent phases by the university, reinforcing its commitment to creating a clean and green environment. The officials also extended thankfulness towards the Greening Punjab Mission initiated by the State Government with the aim to increase the green cover of Punjab and Sh. Rajesh Gulati, PFS,
Divisional Forest Officer and his team for their support towards the plantation drive. Furthermore, as part of its long-term vision, manpower of Landscape Unit of the university also pledged to ensure proper care and monitoring of the newly planted trees as it has done in the past plantation drives with the aim to maintain and extend the serenity of the campus.
Dr. Ghuman applauded the efforts of S. Jaskaran Singh, Assistant Estate Officer, Dr. Harkirat Singh, In-charge Landscaping Unit and workers of Landscape Unit for their meticulous planning and execution of the event. He also expressed gratitude to all participants for making the event a grand success.
