
The NSS wing of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University celebrated NSS Day with a week-long activities including a declamation contest, slogan writing/poster making competition, Jal Seva (water distribution) and a blood donation drive.
The Declamation Contest was on ‘Role of NSS volunteer in Nation Building’ wherein Kashish got the first position, Ekamjot Kaur and Divyanshi second and third position was achieved by Harmanvir and Lakshita..jpeg)
During the Blood Donation Drive at Pashu Palan Mela a total of 70 units of blood was collected to save lives as community service. Dr. Shubpreet from Civil Hospital, Ludhiana said regular blood donation drives are needed continuously throughout the year. Dr. Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator informed that a poster-making competition was also conducted to donate blood during the Blood Donation Drive.
Dr. Narender Kumar, Dr. Vishal Sharma and Dr. S S Hassan, NSS Programme Offices of various Colleges informed that NSS Volunteers arranged ‘Water Chhabeel’ at two places in the mela. Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Director Students’ Welfare commended the noble activities conducted by NSS Volunteers during the week long activities to commemorate NSS Day. S. Devinder Singh Lotey, Assistant Director, Department of Youth Services, Ludhiana and Civil Hospital doctors were honoured with trophies for their role in community service and being associated with Red Ribbon Clubs promoting voluntary blood donations and empowering youth as change agents.
