
Dr. R. S. Sethi, Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, informed that a team comprising two scientists and five students from the college participated in XXX Annual Convention and International Conference on “Envisioning Livestock Production and Protection under the One Health Landscape” at ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Mukteswar, Nainital, Uttarakhand. Conference was organized by the Indian Society of Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology (ISVIB). The team brought laurels to the university by winning multiple national-level awards. Dr. Sethi congratulated the award-winning faculty and students.
Dr. Adarsh Mishra received the Best Oral Presentation Award for his outstanding presentation on “Molecular Characterization of Emerging Ungulate Tetraparvovirus 3 in Swine Herd in Punjab, India.” Dr. Manu M earned the Best Poster Presentation Award for his innovative work on “Development of a Duplex TaqMan Real-time PCR Assay for Simultaneous Detection of African and Classical Swine Fever Viruses.”
Doctoral scholar Jaswinder Kaur, guided by Dr. C. S. Mukhopadhyay, won the ISVIB-Young Scientist Award with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 for her research on transcriptomic differences in indigenous versus exotic dogs. Another doctoral student, Aakriti Pathania secured the Third Prize in Oral Presentation in the “Frontiers in Translational Biotechnology” session.
Postgraduate student Ms. Awantika Pathak, guided by Dr. Adarsh Mishra, received the ISVIB-VC&RI, Namakkal Silver Jubilee Travel Grant Award with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, while Ms. Narinder Kaur, under the mentorship of Dr. Vishal Sharma, was honoured with the ISVIB-Student Travel Grant Award worth Rs. 3,000.
Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor, lauded the faculty and students for their research in disease diagnosis and emphasized the vital role of biotechnological innovations in improving livestock health, productivity, and farmers’ livelihoods.
Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Research, congratulated the achievers and inspired them to pursue advanced research in disease diagnosis.
