unity march to commemorate 150 years of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy in unifying India and promoting unity in diversity. The Padyatra was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and was flagged off by Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Tehsildar.
While commending the efforts of NSS wing of the university, Dr JPS Gill, Vice Chancellor said that such programmes aim to encourage active civic participation and foster awareness about Sardar Patel's pivotal role in nation-building.
Dr. Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator informed that the enthusiastic youth held national flags in their hands while going on a 4 KM Rally from Rose Garden to the Fountain Chowk via College Road, proceeded to Khalsa College for Girls, Ghumar Mandi and returned to the starting point via Rani Jhansi Road.
Dr. Kalpana and Dr. S S Hassan, NSS Programme Officers accompanied the volunteers during Padyatra stated that the event began with a cultural program and national anthem.
Dr. R S Aulakh, Director Students’ Welfare stated that such initiatives to honour the legacy of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, promote national unity and integrity and inspire the youth to uphold the values of leadership, discipline and public service.
