
Faculty members and students from the Department of Livestock Products Technology (LPT), Colle
ge of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, achieved remarkable distinctions at the 13th Conference of the Indian Meat Science Association (IMSA) and National Symposium on “Leveraging Frontier Technologies in the Meat Sector towards Protein Security in Viksit Bharat”. The event was organized by the Division of LPT at IVRI, Izatnagar (U.P.).
Dr. Nitin Mehta, Professor-cum-Head, received the prestigious Dr. V. V. Kulkarni Mid-Career Research Award-2025 from IMSA in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of Livestock Products Technology. He also delivered an insightful lead paper on the innovative valorization of dairy industry byproducts, underscoring its potential to enhance protein security and boost profitability in the livestock sector. Adding to the department’s achievements, Dr. Pavan Kumar, Scientist, was elected as a Fellow of IMSA, a recognition of his emerging leadership and promising contributions to the advancement of meat science in India.
Students from the department also excelled at the conference. Ashlesha Sudhir Ranade secured the Best Poster Award, while Abhinandh K earned the Best Oral Presentation Award for their high-quality research presentations. Furthermore, Abhinandh K also received the IMSA Travel Grant Award, accompanied by a cash prize, which reflects the exceptional merit and potential of young scholars from the department. aul Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor extended his heartfelt compliments to all the awardees and underscored the transformative role of value addition in livestock products. He highlighted that these scientific advancements possess immense potential to enhance farmers’ incomes, catalyze rural entrepreneurship and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
