
College of Dairy and Food Science Technology (CDFST), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, ce
lebrated World Milk Day-2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation of students, faculty and
staff. The event was organized to highlight the nutritional, economic and social importance of milk and dairy products and to promote awareness about dairy science, food safety and healthy living.
The programme commenced with the World Milk Day Pledge, during which participants committed to promoting milk consumption, dairy hygiene, and food safety, and to supporting dairy farmers. Students also presented an innovative human chain activity, “The Movement of
One Drop of Milk,” depicting the journey of milk from dairy farms to end users through collection, transportation, processing, quality control and packaging.
A series of educational and interactive activities, including 'Milk Quiz Competition' , '60-Second Dairy Science Challenge' , 'Guess the Dairy Product' blind-tasting competition, 'Innovative Dairy Packaging and Gift Hamper Showcase' , 'Poster Display' , and the 'CDFST World Milk Day Milk Toast 2026' , were organised. These activities provided students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity and communication skills while promoting awareness about the dairy sector.

omoting health, food security and sustainable agricultural growth.
As part of the celebrations, CDFST also announced a Milk Adulteration Detection Camp from June 4 to July 3, 2026 at their campus in Ludhiana. The camp will offer testing of raw milk samples for fat, SNF (solids-not-fat), and common adulterants such as added water, urea, sugar, starch, maltodextrin, and ammonium compounds. The initiative aims to enhance consumer awareness regarding milk quality and food safety.
Certificates and prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Dean, CDFST, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and emphasized the role of the dairy sector in nutritional security and rural development.
