
Twenty fisheries graduates passed out from College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and
Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana got appointed as Fishery Officers (FOs) in the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Punjab through competitive recruitment by Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB). They received appointment letters from S Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, during a state-level ceremony at Chandigarh. S. Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development of Punjab and the Director and Warden Fisheries, Punjab were also graced this event . 
Chief Minister warmly congratulated the newly appointed FOs for earning the said position on the basis of their professional competency and merit through an honest and transparent selection process. Showcasing confidence in the new appointed officers, he urged them to serve the fisheries sector with their professional expertise, extending required capacity building, technical hand holding
and utility services to the stakeholders in a holistic manner.
Extending heartiest congratulations to the enthusiastic appointees on their placement, Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of fisheries education, in special reference to placement opportunities in public and priv
ate sectors and assorted entrepreneurial options for fisheries sector self-reliance. Ansal, Dean of the College of Fisheries, expressed confidence of the alma mater’s in the appointed officers to serve DOF as a valuable resource in achieving the prospective fisheries development goals through optimized utilization of available aquatic resources in the state.
